Terms of Stay and Check In Information

Availability

Occasionally, due to circumstances beyond our control, the holiday home you booked may be unavailable. If this occurs we will endeavour to accommodate you in an equivalent or better holiday home.

Linen & Supplies

All homes come with linen and towels (except swimming towels). There is enough tea, coffee, toilet paper, etc. for your first night so you don’t have to rush to the supermarket when you arrive. 

Kitchens & BBQs

Kitchens are well equipped so you can cook if you wish. On departure please leave a clean tidy kitchen with dishes washed and dried (or load and start the dishwasher if installed). Many homes also offer barbecues with gas supplied. We just ask that you please clean them after use. ​ 

Cleaning

Lake Tekapo Holiday Homes are all professionally cleaned prior to your arrival by our dedicated staff. When you check out of your holiday home all you need to do is leave it tidy, and wash and dry your dishes. 

Please separate your rubbish into the bins provided for recycling. Instructions can be found in each house.

Winter Conditions

Temperatures can drop to -10 degrees Celsius during winter and we experience ice and snow due to our alpine climate. Please check road conditions and drive cautiously when there has been frost or snow. 

Please also note that New Zealand homes are commonly heated to 18-21 degrees Celsius and do not have central heating. All our houses are heated with either wood fires or electrical heating appliances however please be prepared to wear more clothing indoors than you may be used to. As our mothers taught us, the Kiwi way is to "put on a jersey!!"

Check In & Booking Policies (T's & C's)

Checking in

To collect the keys to your holiday home, please come to the Lake Tekapo Holiday Homes office at 2 Rapuwai Lane (The Godley Hotel), Lake Tekapo.

Check-in hours are from 2pm – 5pm.

If you expect to arrive later, please call us on 03 680 6607 to make late check in arrangements.

If possible, please provide an estimated time of arrival and a New Zealand contact phone number when you make your booking. 

If your booking is made within 12 hours of arrival please contact the office on 03 680 6607 to ensure we are expecting you.

Checking out:

Check out is before 10am on the day of your departure. Please return the key to the Lake Tekapo Holiday Home office.

Please ensure you have left the kitchen clean and tidy with your dishes washed and dried (or the dishwasher loaded and switched on).

Please separate your rubbish into the bins provided for recycling. 


Payment

A deposit of 1 night is taken at the time of booking from the credit card provided, the remaining balance is due 7 days before your arrival and will be charged to the credit card provided. Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
Credit card transactions incur a 2.75% surcharge.

Full payment can be accepted via bank transfer by prior arrangement.


1 Night Stay Surcharge

We may choose to accept 1 night stays during non-peak periods but with a surcharge of 30%. 1 night stays must be requested by phone or via email.


Additional Charges

A Service Fee of $20 is added at the time of booking (1 Service Fee per property).

Highchairs and Port-a-cots available for hire at $10 each. Please contact us to check if there is one available for the dates you wish to book.

Guests may incur a cleaning surcharge if the home is left in an excessively untidy state. This includes evidence of pets.

Askray Apartment - an EV Charger is available on site for a small fee.
If you wish to use this facility, please advise us when booking or when collecting the apartment’s keys.

If there is evidence of smoking in the house you will be charged an additional night's stay.

If damage to property through carelessness or negligence is evident after your stay we will charge the cost of repair or replacement back to your credit card. Please report any damage or breakages immediately.

Pets are not permitted except in the following properties (one pet only):
Rylee Retreat 
Pukeko Palace

Tekapo Glade
Ashley Heights
Ashley's Retreat

 

Late arrivals

If your expected arrival time is after 5pm please inform us so we can make arrangements for you to collect your key. 

Accurate guest numbers

The Mackenzie District Council has strict bylaws that permit only a certain number of guests at each property.

Please inform us of additional guests prior to check in (including all children) and we will amend your tariff accordingly up to the maximum guest limit at the property.

You may not pitch tents on our properties. You may not have campervans, caravans, house buses etc on our sites.

If guest numbers are reduced within 7 days of your arrival we will not amend your tariff. NB: Children under 3 stay free, but for health and safety we still need to include them in the guest total.

Please note: Failure to inform us of additional guests or children after you have checked in will result in a penalty charge of 200% of the additional guest rate. We also reserve the right to terminate your booking without refund.


Changes to your Booking

You can change the date of your booking up to 7 days before arrival. If the new dates are at a higher rate, the difference for 1 night will be charged to the card provided.

If you reduce the number of nights on your booking within 7 days of arrival you will be charged for all nights in the original booking.

Lake Tekapo Holiday Homes reserves the right to move your booking to another property of similar or better standard in occasional circumstances whereby the property becomes unavailable due to reasons beyond our control.


Cancellation

Cancellations made more than 30 days before your arrival are free.

Cancellations made less than 30 days but more than 7 days before your arrival incur a 1 night cancellation fee (deposit).

If cancelled with less than 7 days before your arrival you will be charged the total booking amount.

In case of a no-show, you will be charged the total booking amount.


Please be advised that there is no refund during a multiple-day booking if you decide to shorten your stay after you have checked in.


Parties, excessive noise, disruptive behavior

There are private residents living nearby to every property. Please be respectful and take the noise/music inside at 10.30pm.


Gatherings, parties and functions may not be held without the permission of Lake Tekapo Holiday Homes.


Excessive noise, disruptive behaviour or anything unlawful will be dealt with immediately and may result in you being asked to leave the house immediately.
